A Christmas shout out to our troops who are on duty in hot spots around the world this Christmas.

While we celebrate Christmas on New Zealand beaches and around the BBQ 220 NZ Defence Force troops are helping to provide peace and security in hot spots around the globe. It’s easy for us to take our own peace and security for granted. Our deployed troops are working in very different environments, away from family and friends and Christmas is one of the hardest times to be away from home.

This week they sent us their Christmas Wishes  from Afghanistan, South Sudan (with a special appearance from former MP David Shearer on the guitar), Middle East, Iraq, Antarctica, South Korea, Israel and the Sinai Peninsula.

So to our soldiers, sailors and airmen and women, I salute your service and wish you all a safe and peaceful Christmas.
